People Have Fallen In Love With This Bystander’s Reaction To A Woman Proposing To Her Girlfriend

Maybe it’s because 2016 has felt like such a wash or maybe it’s just my nature as an annoyingly optimistic human being, but lately I find myself almost aggressively seeking out any form of positive news.

If I can just find enough heartwarming moments to salvage what little dignity this year has left, maybe it won’t feel like we’re throwing in the towel. One amazingly wonderful woman has recently given us a moment such as this and we can’t get enough of her. Not all hope is lost, people and this story is living proof.

25-year-old Jessica Rodriguez and her fiancé, Chelsea Miller met on Tumblr and have been together for over 4 years.

The pair now live in Chicago where Rodriguez attends law school while Miller is a full-time nanny and student. Rodriguez told BuzzFeed News after her grandmother passed away this year, it made her realize how short life is.

“I just knew I had to hold on to love as much as I could since our days are counted. So I went and bought the wedding ring.”

Rodriguez planned the most adorably unique proposal at the Art Institute of Chicago last week. She wanted to incorporate art into this special moment because it plays an important role in the couple’s lives.

“We have travel to various art museums in Texas, Pennsylvania and Illinois. I once worked in an art gallery called the Wynne Home Arts Center and we even have a custom painting of our baby, Gatsby, a cavalier King Charles spaniel puppy”.

So. Fucking. Adorable.

Rodriguez’s younger brother Carlos caught a beautiful photo of the proposal and excitedly shared it on Twitter with this followers.

The photo quickly went viral, but not because of the engagement itself, because of the pure joy in the reaction of a bystander.

That woman is seriously all of us. *Sniff*

Since its posting, the pic has received over 90K retweets and more than 280K likes. Rodriguez said that she did not see the woman was actually sitting there or her reaction until she went over the photos.

“I loved her reaction! Whoever she is we are so thankful of her pure reaction. She made our moment even more special!” she said.

People can’t get enough of this beautiful moment.

Carlos was overwhelmed with the response to his post, but was happy to see such a positive reaction.

“I am just so happy that a positive LGBT photo went viral. It’s not everyday something like this has such a positive reaction to the general public. The sweet woman had such a beautiful reaction. It’s absolutely amazing to see such love coming from a bystander,” he told BuzzFeed News.

The newly engaged couple didn’t even realize their intimate moment had gone viral until the day after.

“I honestly did not know it went viral till the next day… We love the very positive feedback and just ignore the negativity,” Rodriguez said.

This might be one of the best moments we’ve witnessed all year. There is hope!

50 Shades author E.L. James also congratulated the couple.

The engagement and the positivity surrounding it is giving people hope for a brighter future.

Rodriguez added, “We hope this inspires LGBT people to not fear to express their love to one another.”

Hell yes! Love wins, always.

And just like that 2016 isn’t all for nothing.
