5 People Who Made Us Say “Hell Yes” This Week

We’ve made it, the finish line is so unbelievably close. 2016 is over in only a matter of hours and we couldn’t be more excited. That being said, not all of the past year has been a complete and total wash. In fact, there are quite a few moments/people from 2016 that have made us say “hell yes.”

These are just a handful of said people who are making our last days of this unbearable year actually kind of bearable and giving us some sliver of hope for 2017.

1. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth

First up on our list this week is the on-again off-again couple Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. The pair visited patients at a at children’s hospital yesterday in an effort to spread some much needed holiday cheer.

Cyrus is a adamant believer in charitable actions particularly around the holidays which can sometimes become depressingly materialistic. She’s also posted about the importance of animal rescue and adoption earlier this season. Below are just a few of the heartwarming photos from her hospital visit with Hemsworth and they’re sure to make even the most Grinch-y hearts grow 3 sizes.

Queen Warrior!!!! Yes you are!!!!!

2. This Uber driver

Next on our list of truly amazing human beings this week is this super hero disguised as an Uber driver out of Sacramento, California. 34-year-old Keith Avila was just starting his shift on Monday when he picked up three women one of which looked to be around 12 years old. According to a video Avila later posted on Facebook, the women got in the car and quickly started describing to the teenager, who was sitting in the front seat, what was going to happen when they got to the hotel. The women allegedly told the young girl to “check for guns” and “get the money before you start touching up on the guy.” Avila suspected the teenager may be a victim of sex-trafficking and as soon as they exited his car he quickly called the police.

The Daily Beast later reported that the 16-year-old girl was involved in a sex-trafficking ring, and had been missing from her family. Thanks to Avila’s call, police were able to bring her home. They also arrested Destiny Pettway, 25, and Maria Westley, 31, who allegedly arranged for the young girl to meet a man at the Holiday Inn and they arrested Disney Vang, the suspected john waiting in the hotel, after finding him with the underaged girl in his room.

Not all heroes wear capes, people.

3. This amazing father

Not everyone on our list is here for some heroic act or kindness, sometimes we include them because they gave us a good-hearted laugh in a time when we desperately needed one. At least, that was the case for this father from Cape Elizabeth, Maine who posted the most hilarious passive aggressive video about the joys of having his college-aged daughter home for the holidays.

Not only can we relate to this now-viral video on a deeply personal level, but we are in love with this dad’s matter-of-fact manner. Trust us, you’ll be watching him on repeat and sharing with all of your relatives.

Amen sir, amen.

4. A woman and her raccoons

You may be wondering, how would a woman and raccoons make you say “hell yes?” Well, this woman is basically a Disney princess come to life and the raccoons are her adorable woodland creatures that sew up her dress and sing. Okay, maybe not the last part but this special bond is pretty damn cute.

Kaylah Lynn is visited by a precious family of raccoons every night at promptly 7:30 and shares the photos with her friends and Twitter. Lynn feeds the family and has given them each names, of course. For instance, her favorite one is named Rosemary (don’t tell the others.) Can we seriously be this woman or at least go hang out in her home and play with these adorable creatures?

5. This considerate puppy

Okay, so I know we said “people”, but dogs are basically people anyway so we’re including this adorable little nugget in our list this week. Lovelace is a pure bred Maltese from California and the cutest fluff of white fur we’ve ever seen. Not only is Lovelace too precious to handle, but she’s also extremely considerate.

Her mom, Mayrelyn Phan, told BuzzFeed News that she was watching the TV show The OA when she started sniffling and tearing up.

“I had a tissue just laying on my bed, and Lovelace went over to get it and came back to give it to me,” Phan said.

Phan says whenever she is sad or in a bad mood, Lovelace always lies next to her instead of “acting crazy like she is sometimes.” Because dogs know, they know everything and we don’t deserve them. Needless to say, the internet quickly fell in love with Lovelace and her kind heart. They even began to share pics of their own pups and we can’t get enough. Our week has been made.
