Happiness is a wonderful feeling and something that we strive to feel as much as we can, but some of the best kinds of happiness are when we make others feel happy.
Think about giving someone the perfect gift and seeing their eyes light up; they simply radiate happiness! Or, when you do an act of kindness and not only is the recipient grateful, but you can see in their smile that you’ve made them truly happy.
For some people, making other people happy is more important than their own happiness, like mothers and fathers who will do anything in their power to make their children happy, even when their children are all grown up.
If you have a lot of empathy for other people and feel their emotions as deeply as your own, you may seek to do whatever you can to make them feel joyous and hopeful.
If you celebrate Christmas, your celebration may not be complete until you’ve made your loved ones happy, especially if there are children involved. Who doesn’t appreciate the sight and sound of a happy child? Childhood should be as happy as it possibly can be and if we can help ensure that happiness, we feel better about ourselves.
Making others feel happy isn’t only about giving them material items, it can be about gestures and acts of caring — showing someone kindness and compassion can certainly lead to happiness.
Wanting your partner to be happy can sometimes overshadow your own happiness and there are times you must sacrifice your happiness for theirs. However, you can focus on their happiness to the determent of your own life. You don’t want to harm yourself to make someone else happy.
