Last Friday, the ever-stunning Blake Lively was honored at Variety’s Power of Women event for her significant strides in combatting child pornography with the Child Rescue Coalition. While walking down the red carpet at this prestigious event, Lively was asked by a reporter—not about her humanitarian efforts—but about her outfit. Understandably, Lively took offense to this.
At Variety’s Power of Women event this weekend, Blake Lively shut down a reporter who asked about her outfit.
Seriously, there is a time and a place to ask about fashion and this was not it.
“Really? At this event, you’re asking me about my outfit?” Lively asked, clearly insulted. “Seriously…Would you ask a man that?”
She has a point. Would this situation even have occurred if the interviewee had been a man? Not likely.
Later that day, Lively delivered a deeply moving speech about the sexual exploitation of children at the event’s annual luncheon.
“I didn’t really know what child pornography was,” the actress said. “I was afraid to ask what it was, as a mother, because it would be painful to hear. But I felt I had to ask, and I wanted to share with you. It is the truth, and I believe if we all knew this, we would dedicate much more of ourselves to stopping it.”
The designer of Lively’s flawless outfit, Brandon Maxwell, also gave our favorite Gossip Girl a nod on Instagram for all of her amazing work.
He captioned the photo, “Stunning @blakelively wears #brandonmaxwell Fall/Winter 2017 wave jumpsuit to today’s @variety Women in Power luncheon in New York City, where she was honored for her work with the Child Rescue Coalition. Congratulations Blake, and thank you for all that you do! 💚”
