There’s a new trailer for season 7 of Game Of Thrones and it sure looks like a war’s coming
In fact, Jon Snow just comes out and says “The great war is here.” The last trailer showed how the major players were all positioned for an epic clash, and the newest trailer advances that story just enough to tantalize us.
The trailer begins with Cersei taking stock of all the enemies surrounding her queendom. There are enemies to the west, east, south, and north, she says, as images flash of Grey Worm, Euron Greyjoy, a mysterious Dornish sword sharpener, and Arya Stark flash on the screen. “Whatever stands in our way, we will defeat it,” Cersei tells her brother as we see soldiers marching with the golden lion of the Lannister family on their shields.
We know from the previous trailer that Danaerys ends up on the east coast of Westeros in Dragonstone
This seems like it’s going to be the most immediate threat to Cersie since it’s not only very close to King’s Landing but also because Danaerys, her army, and her dragons represent more of an x-factor.
Meanwhile, the threat from the white walkers in the north grows as Davos ominously intones “If we put aside our enmities and bound together we will die, and then it doesn’t matter whose skeleton sits on the iron throne.” Bleak!
We also get to see a glimpse of Dothraki hordes battling in Westeros, Dany’s dragons soaring over her army, and, possibly, Melisandre at Dragonstone. We can assume she’s there to meet with Danaerys, but why? Is she there at Jon Snow’s request? Is she recruiting Dany and her dragons to fight the white walkers instead of Cersei? Or did she just forget some potions and stuff in her old room?
We’re going to have to wait until July 16th to find out, that’s when the new season premieres on HBO.
