Everyone is weeping over this sweet dad who walked his daughter to school on her first and last day

Dads have some very important duties when it comes to raising teenage daughters. The first is the deeply-ingrained obligation to embarrass the aforementioned daughter(s) at all costs. The second is to do ridiculously sweet stuff that causes her to forget that she was ever embarrassed by you in the first place.

Brittany Gayler is an 18-year-old in a small Texas town who recently graduated from high school. On her final day of school, her dad, Jason Gayler, decided to walk her to school as a recreation of the day he walked 5-year-old Brittany to her first day of Kindergarten.

Awwwww.

Jason tells BuzzFeed News that during that final walk to school he was “holding back the tears,” and that it was “an emotional time.”

Thankfully, this daddy-daughter walk was also captured on film.

Despite being a teenager, Brittany wasn’t embarrassed about the display of fatherly affection. She tells BuzzFeed, “I’ve always been so grateful that my parents have always been there for me.”

Brittany posted the heartwarming photos to Twitter, where they quickly garnered over 50,000 likes and 10,000 retweets.

Twitter was overcome with floods of emotion, thanks to this sweet Dad Move.

People were also pretty distracted by the fact that Brittany’s dad hadn’t aged a day in, like, 12 years.

Not only that, but everyone was pretty much in agreement: cute gesture aside, Brittany’s dad is hot.

So, yeah. Brittany’s dad is hot. But, let’s not miss the entire point: he also does incredibly adorable dad stuff.

For the record, Brittany did not anticipate that her photos would go viral. I was like, “Oh my lord, what is going on,” she says.

Hopefully, this will be just another cute memory for Brittany to add to her ever-growing collection. Because one thing’s for sure: with a dad like Jason, she’s definitely going to have plenty of sentimental photo ops over the years.
