Prom photos are a somewhat tedious tradition, often insisted upon by parents, which almost always appear stilted and awkward. You and your date have to stand next to each other like wooden Barbie dolls, you have to hold out your wrist to show off your corsage, and you have to smile as though you aren’t thinking “Take the damn photo, MOM.”
Fortunately, many teenagers today are finding new and creative ways to buck this tradition and make it their own — and one of them even went as far as incorporating dinosaurs.
Hannah, a teenager in New York, decided to take her glorious prom pictures accompanied by an “older man” — like, a prehistorically older man.
A handsome Tyrannosaurus Rex showed up for the photoshoot, adding a certain debonair flair to the whole thing.
And don’t worry — he may be older than fossils, but he didn’t forget the corsage.
Aw! This cute couple will definitely last through the Cretaceous period.
Hannah posted the photoshoot to her Twitter account, where it quickly garnered over 20,000 likes and 4,000 retweets.
Naturally, Twitter was pretty stoked on the idea of a T-Rex prom photoshoot.
Everyone was pretty much in agreement: these photos are the new standard for prom photos.
So, apologies to moms everywhere: it looks like the interior foyer of your house, accompanied by a firm and hearty hand clasp, is no longer cutting it when it comes to prom photos — modern teens want to kiss inflatable dinosaurs and go viral, dammit!
