There are few things in life that have the ability to provide us pure, unyielding joy—the kind of joy that is capable of making even the worst days bearable. As you may have guessed, the source of this joy to which I am referring is of course—french fries. Think about it, can you remember a time you’ve ever been in a bad mood while munching down on this savory snack? I didn’t think so.
Unfortunately, our favorite fried potatoes are currently the center of the internet’s attention due to a baffling and unsightly “ranking” of their different varieties and we just cannot stand for it.
The internet is currently losing its mind over this controversial ranking of french fries.
Good god, what in fry-nation??
This “official” ranking was originally published over a year ago (March of 2016) by a foodie site called Food Republic. According to their site, the results were gathered via an inter-office poll at the Food Republic HQ and also included a few members of the restaurant community.
So, why is this just now blowing up and causing the internet to have an existential meltdown??
One Twitter user, @CriminelleLaw, recently re-shared the graphic over the weekend with the caption: “*view at your own risk* This is the most controversial ranking I’ve ever seen on Twitter.”
And the floodgates were opened…
Unsurprisingly, viewers were horrified by this ranking and several had opinions on the inclusion of tater tots.
Honestly, what kind of monster puts tater tots before cheese fries!?
Giving waffle fries first place was also an unpopular decision.
And apparently, curly fries got robbed.
There also seems to be some essential species of fries that weren’t even acknowledged.
I now know that my life has been meaningless without Poutine.
I could tear this poor excuse for a “ranking” apart for days, but I think we can all agree there has been a serious crime committed here.
