If you came of age watching Nickelodeon, then there’s a decent chance that you are familiar with Josh Peck and Drake Bell’s friendship via Drake & Josh. The show about two very different stepbrothers who are forced to live under the same roof ran for four seasons, and became an integral part of many childhoods.
The two always seemed fairly close off the set of the show, however, recent developments suggest that the friendship between Drake and Josh may have fractured in recent years.
Over the weekend, Josh Peck married Paige O’Brien, his longtime girlfriend, in a private ceremony in Malibu.
Josh’s Grandfathered costar, John Stamos, made the invite list.
However, former costar and (supposedly) close friend, Drake Bell, was noticeably absent.
According to E! Online, Drake tweeted about the wedding snub, indicating that he was hurt and that the friendship ties were “officially cut.”
Drake also apparently left a passive-aggressive comment on one of Peck’s wedding photos on Instagram.
Drake later deleted his tweets and comments, but has yet to issue any statement or apology.
The whole thing comes as quite a surprise, considering both Drake and Josh shared the same throwback photo just a few weeks ago.
Fans are also extremely upset by Peck’s decision, and some are actually leaving snake emoji in his Instagram comments.
Most fans, however, aren’t even angry — they’re just sad and disappointed.
It’s still unclear what is responsible for this rift between friends. Is it simply that the two drifted apart and Josh didn’t feel Drake wasn’t a close enough friend to warrant an invite (which would be unfortunate, but kind of understandable)? Or did an actual altercation transpire?
As of yet, nobody knows. All we can do is mourn these childhood BFFs and hope that this is all some sort of elaborate publicity stunt.
