Despite certain societal shifts (and repeated viewings of Blood Diamond) there’s still the persistent notion that guys are obligated to buy a ridiculously expensive engagement ring for their prospective fiancé. And, while this concept is admittedly romantic in its symbolism, that kind of expensive investment can make guys a bit anxious when it comes to committing to a ring. (Perhaps even more so than committing to an actual person.)
A group of guys recently took to Whisper to talk about their feelings regarding ring shopping, and the results are kind of surprising. While some are definitely against spending an exorbitant amount of money on a ring, others believe that it’s an important way to show their partner how they feel. Either way, it’s clear that, even though many women feel they bear the brunt of the stress when it comes to wedding planning, guys still have their own anxiety attacks when it comes to the engagement process.
