Which boozy beverage you should drink for the ‘Game of Thrones’ premiere, based on your favorite character

With the seventh season of Game of Thrones nearly upon us (insert “Winter is coming” joke here), it’s natural for our minds to be preoccupied with viewing parties and libations. After all, the twists and turns of a final season’s story arc are bound to make us turn to some imaginatively-themed cocktails for comfort.

Here are some ideas on what to drink during upcoming Sunday evenings, based on which GOT characters you relate to the most. While not all of the characters are included (that is a daunting task for a far more disciplined individual), I tried to include the most iconic of the last living characters.

Cheers to the few remaining survivors!

Cersei Lannister

Obviously Cersei would imbibe with some wine — or, at the very least, a wine-based cocktail. This Wine of Courage is made with dark port, Fernet-Branca, green Chartreuse and Angostura bitters, and will certainly help you to channel your inner evil(ish) Queen, particularly if you sip it in a goblet.

Daenerys Targaryen

What’s more fitting for the Mother of Dragons that a cocktail made with dragonfruit? This simple drink is made by combining rosé champagne with scoops of dragonfruit, which makes for a fizzy, pink and surprisingly powerful concoction.

Jon Snow

Fill up your tankard with this hearty elixir, comprised of hot coffee and coffee liqueur. The warmth will ward off any White Walkers — or at least guard you against a case of brutal central air conditioning.

Arya Stark

arya stark needle game of thrones cocktail drink 7 640x1024 Which boozy beverage you should drink for the Game of Thrones premiere, based on your favorite character

A nod to young Arya’s sword, this Needle cocktail is made by mixing vodka, ginger beer and lime, and serving in a pointy glass. It’s sure to give you some Stark-like courage (and by that, I mean some alcohol-induced chutzpah).

Tyrion Lannister

The Imp is made by mixing vodka, lemon juice and lemongrass syrup. A little sweet, a little sour, and plenty of flavor … just like Tyrion! (Okay, “flavor” is the wrong word, but you get what I mean.) Just don’t take Tyrion’s lead and imbibe too much.

Sansa Stark

lady sansa stark game of thrones cocktail drink 7 640x1024 Which boozy beverage you should drink for the Game of Thrones premiere, based on your favorite character

This classy drink is made with rose vodka, saffron, sweet vermouth, and cardamom syrup, and garnished on top with a slice of starfruit. It’s complex and nuanced, just like Sansa. Plus, the starfruit is clearly a play on the last name “Stark,” for anyone who thinks puns are hilarious.

Melisandre

game of thrones inspired cocktail the red woman Which boozy beverage you should drink for the Game of Thrones premiere, based on your favorite character

A drink honoring the Red Woman would, obviously, require a vibrant crimson hue. This saturated beverage is made with a truly diabolical combination of cherry vodka, silver tequila, Fireball, Grenadine and pineapple juice. It probably won’t give you eternal youth, but it will definitely make you act a little immature.

Brienne of Tarth

This cocktail, called the Maid of Tarth, isn’t quite sapphire-hued — but it’s doing its best. It’s a noble combination of scotch, Curaçao, lime juice and Crème de Violette.

Littlefinger

A simple combination of sloe gin and orange juice, this cocktail is much like Littlefinger — charming on the surface, with a bit of a backstabbing bite at the finish.

The Kingslayer cocktail has a duality that seems quite fitting for Jaime Lannister. The drink is created by blending sour mix, cranberry juice, and whiskey, and will definitely help to steel your nerves.

A deceptively slippery and cunning drink, the Spider cocktail is made by blending Beefeater gin with Dolin Blanc vermouth, Lillet Blanc, and rose water.
