Kit Harington and Rose Leslie’s engagement announcement was so damn British and so damn charming

The romantic relationship between Kit Harington and Rose Leslie is easily one of the best fruits borne of the Game of Thrones tree. (Well, that, and the friendship between Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner.)

So it’s especially delightful that the King of the North and his wildling are finally making things official. The two have announced that they are indeed getting married — and, refreshingly enough, social media wasn’t involved in the slightest.

Yesterday, rumors were swirling that Kit and Rose had gotten engaged, but there was no actual confirmation from the pair. Today, the couple chose to officially announce their betrothal in a delightful old-fashioned manner: they posted an announcement in the “Forthcoming Marriages” section of the London Times.

Mr K.C. Harington and Miss R.E. Leslie. The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire.

If that isn’t the most delightful way to announce you’re engaged, then I don’t know what is. Okay, yes, maybe a basket full of puppies would be cuter — but you still can’t deny the charm that comes from an old-fashioned engagement announcement in the newspaper.

In June, Nicole Kidman prodded Kit about proposing to Rose when the two appeared together on the The Late Late Show with James Corden. Though Kit was embarrassed at the time, it looks like Nicole finally has her answer about whether or not Kit is going to put a ring on it:
