If you woke up this morning kinda like this:
I hate to say it, but your day may just get a little worse.
The Disney Channel intends to remake 1993’s Hocus Pocus into a *gasp* TV movie.
And if you thought you were getting a sequel, you’d be wrong. Though all three original Sanderson sisters – Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy – have expressed interest in being a part of any new iterations on the cult classic, Deadline reports that the remake will include a new cast, as well as a new director.
When asked about a sequel to Hocus Pocus in a 2014 Reddit AMA, Bette told fans:
Inundate the Disney company, because I have canvassed the girls and they are wiling to do it, but we have no say in it, so if you want a HOCUS POCUS 2, ask the Walt Disney company. You have been SO adorable. This has been most enlightening. SISTAHS!
And don’t go chasing waterfalls…
For her part, when asked about whether another film was in the works by Watch What Happens Live‘s Andy Cohen, SJP stated “I would love that. I think we’ve all been fairly vocal about being very keen.”
Again, if upon reading all of this info you find yourself like:
Go ahead and jump on the bandwagon, because it turns out there’s a lot of people who find it completely unnecessary too.
Here’s hoping that if they are going to bring Hocus Pocus into the millennium they’ll at least feature a diverse cast.
