There’s something fascinating and lovely about witnessing a love story play out from start to finish. Perhaps it’s just heartening to see that people can still be surprised, and can still find love in unexpected and delightful places. Or, perhaps we’re all just voyeurs and like knowing about other people’s personal lives.
Regardless, one woman’s recent tweet about the beginning of her relationship has Twitter collectively saying “Awww.”
It all started when Elizabeth Howley shared a tweet on Wednesday in which she actually told the tale of her real-life love story via Twitter screenshots.
Apparently, Elizabeth’s romance with her significant other began somewhat inauspiciously.
That is, until the guy proved that he wasn’t a sleaze-bag — just an adorable nerd.
Elizabeth then chronicled the couple’s first face-to-face meeting via Twitter, making a bold prediction.
And you know what? SHE IS GOING TO MARRY HIM, BECAUSE HE FRIGGIN’ PROPOSED.
Apparently, Elizabeth and her now-fiancé, John, got engaged in Boston last night, after dating for over a year-and-a-half.
“We went to HS together, began talking in March 2016, went on our first date in April, and he’s been the most supportive and loving person in the whole world for me,” Elizabeth told her followers in a tweet. “We’re 26 and 28, we love memes, and we could not be happier.”
Of course, Twitter was reeling over the plot twist in this nerdy DM-turned-romance.
Yep — this has officially warmed my soul and reminded me that love can be found in the most surprising and innocuous moments.
Also: don’t hide your geeky light under a bushel, people! Chances are, it’s your one-way ticket to finding your soulmate.
