It was recently announced that on February 2, 2018, Justin Timberlake will be dropping his 5th studio album, Man of the Woods. If you’re thinking to yourself, “Wait, isn’t Justin doing something else in February?” you’d be right. He’s set up to headline this year’s Super Bowl Halftime show … on February 4th. Coincidence? I think NOT.
Regardless of the *serendipitous* timing, Justin has never failed to put out an album with total bangers on it. His first solo project after leaving *NSYNC, entitled Justified (soooo 2002), had iconic singles like “Cry Me River” and “Señorita,” FutureSex/LoveSounds gave us the dance floor anthem “Sexy Back,” and if you weren’t already in love with Justin and wife Jessica Biel’s relationship, 2013’s “Mirror” hit you so hard in the gut you’re probably still dealing with the emotional trauma.
Though Justin has given us some hits, he’s also taken them too. For example, his reconciliation with the NFL post-Nigglegate, and being asked back to perform though Janet Jackson is still banned, has left a bad taste in people’s mouth. While he’s spent the last decade with a “good-guy, BFF-to-all” image, it’s only fair that the internet has some fun at his expense. Namely, the reaction to the “Prince of pop’s” return to his Tennessee roots with a country-tinged R&B sound.
There’s not much to go off of just yet, but that doesn’t mean Twitter isn’t going to get a good, old fashioned roast going.
